RSCDS NORTH AMERICAN
EXAMINATION TOUR 2015
In cooperation with RSCDS Scotland examination centres will be set up east and west or as needed. A centre needs a minimum of 6 candidates to make it viable but it is quite common for more isolated candidates to add to the numbers by traveling to the nearest centre for the exam, having been trained in their local area.
Information on the syllabus, application forms, etc. can be obtained on line or from The Royal Scottish Country Dance Society, 12 Coates Crescent, Edinburgh, EH3 7AF. The fees for Units 1 and 4 are £20, and for Units 2, 3 and 5 are £35 all in British Pounds. Current information on the syllabus and assessment forms has recently been circulated to candidates, past and present, tutors, branches and examiners.
Unit 1 (the written exam) is administered directly with Scotland although the candidates write it in their local area under supervision. The next two dates for the exam are Saturday, October 11, 2014 and February 14, 2015, but if you have not already made arrangements for the October exam, you should aim for February. Although it is highly recommended that Unit 1 is completed before taking Units 2 and 3 it is not mandatory. However there is a time limit if you choose to take the exam after Units 2 and 3. All three Units comprise Part 1 of the Teachers’ Certificate.
Unit 4 (Record of Teaching Practice) has to be submitted to Headquarters six months in advance of the Unit 5 exam which works out to be the end of October 2014. Units 4 and 5 comprise the final Part 2.
Although 2015 seems a long way away, planning for the tour starts now and I’m looking forward to hearing from all interested dancers, tutors, branches, etc.
